I live in Pittsburgh near the Homewood Cemetery where Lawrence Kim is buried. I think of him and the tragedy of September 11, 2001 every time I walk past his final resting place. It touches me to think of this young man leaving this world too soon. Reading the tributes here certainly helps me "know" this person better. And now his mom has died. I think of her in her terrible grief since 2001, and I think of his father and sister. Today I stopped and cleaned up the gravesite a bit, brushing the mown grass off the front of the stone and tossing an old flower pot. It was the least I could do.

Larry , I can't believe it's been thirteen years since that terrible morning you were taken away. You stay in our hearts and watch over is from above. We miss you .

Larry was a lot like his chosen profession - a rich, wildly entertaining open book who was a mystery for mere laymen to read. This is partly because the Larry I knew didn't quite understand his character himself. He had the charm and wit to skate though life, even at the high profile companies he worked for time and again. But as the New York Times profile suggests, he worked insanely long hours instead. I don't doubt those stories about his work ethic for a minute, but I do doubt that it's possible or necessary to do real work for that many hours on end. That was Larry's very strong loyalty more than anything else. Some of his own personal mysteries he might have addressed by seeing South Korea for himself, where I spent an amazing year once. Contradictions he seemed to fight in his character may have been explained by the mesh of 2 distinctive cultures in one. Larry was a remarkable, exceptionally loyal friend. If he'd lived I'd have asked him to travel the world with me, avoiding work wherever we could. But like South Korea in recent days, he'd have become rich and successful, while still entertaining friends with more energy than almost any of his distant cousins. Here's to you Larry.

I met Larry when he moved into Morewood Gardens E-tower at CMU. As an upperclassmen on a freshman floor, Larry was more than a friend, he was a mentor and confidant. I would not be the man I am today without Larry's influence. I miss you and your infectious spirit, my friend.

Larry, I'll never forget you and those first few nervous weeks in a new city (Philadelphia) and a new job (PricewaterhouseCoopers). Your positive, outgoing, and welcoming nature made me feel right at home. Truly a genuine, hard working, fun loving guy. A smile is always brought to my face when I think of you.

I didn't even know Larry was working in the WTC until I received the news a few days later. I first met him at a recruiting event for PwC when I was interviewing with the firm. His sense of humor and sincerity instantly bonded me to him. He joked around with me the whole night and made a potentially stressful recruiting event really fun. I found out later we had a lot of mutual friends in common and would often hang out. Larry, my thoughts are with you today and I will always remember you.

I met Larry over twenty years ago in Steubenville, OH and the memories I have of hanging out with him will never dim. Funny, witty, smart, mischievous, occasional insomniac by choice, the only person to ever serenade me with 'Pretty in Pink' from a balcony, and above all, real, no pretention, no cliques, just a great guy. I will always be a better person for having known you Larry.

I met Larry while attending Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH. Although it was only for a brief time, the memory of his intelligence, quick wit and affable disposition remain with me to this day. I discovered this website while searching the Internet for a clue as to my old friend’s whereabouts. My hope was to find his profile and reconnect on a networking website so that we could catch up on the past 17 years. Now I wish to let my friend and his family know that I am grateful for the chance to have known Larry. I will always treasure the memories our late night runs to the library at CMU and road trips to the national museums in DC.

Larry, I've been thinking about you a lot this last week, my old friend. As you already know, I lost one of my 4.5 month old daughters to a bacterial infection one week ago. Her loss reminded me of the loss of my close friend from Pittsburgh and how precious life is. You are still very much in my thoughts and I really enjoy telling friends about you. I miss you a lot my friend. Take care of my baby girl. She loves the Steelers and coffee too, so you'll have a lot in common. I will always remember you, Larry. Today I thought of September 2001 and found Larry's tribute. I have met Larry's father on more than one occasion (my wife worked with him), learning little things like how Larry would always give his father new golf shirts, and attended Larry's dedication ceremony in Oakland, a suburb of Pittsburgh, and meeting his family. Six years later, let's not forget Larry, his colleagues, his family who remembers him fondly and all others touched in some way by September 2001.

Larry, I will always remember working together with you at PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting back in 1998. You were a key member of our team and were always ready to help others, especially in matters involving IT. I was impressed by your dedication, work ethic and sense of humor. Larry, It seems impossible that it's been 2 years already. I thank God that He allowed us to be blessed by knowing you, even though it was for far too short of a time. I know your spirit remains here with us and for that I'm grateful. My only regret is that I never told you what a wonderful, caring and extraordinary person you were when I had the chance. I had just met Larry, but he made a great impact on me. I can't believe we had contact only days before. I remember him fondly. 9/11 to me is about the loss of Larry. His kind spirit, sincere heart, and lovely kidlike innocence were uniquely beautiful and are sorely missed.

I have known larry since my freshman year at CMU. He was a great friend and an inspiration to me. Because of his 'gooffiness' and his work ethics, I was constanly inspired by Larry to do my best, work my hardest, but to never forgot the fun side of life.

Oh my Lar-Bear... After 8 months, I still expect your calls every Sunday night when you'd invariably ask me what I was making for dinner. Since that nightmare on Sept 11 '01, I've been trying to live in a way that would've made you proud of your big sis. Do you see how hard I've been trying, even though I've stumbled at times? Do you know how I'm trying to keep your smile alive by smiling & joking -- even when I want to scream & cry? I hope you're not too disappointed when I do end up yelling at the world.
